Lutwyche Anglican Church

Baptism in the Anglican Church of Australia is open to people of all ages.

The tradition of Baptism of infants and young children (and later Confirmation of those children by a Bishop) is near and dear to the hearts of many parents in the Anglican Church.

The sacramental act of baptism is without doubt the single act which marks admission of a person into the Christian church.

The Parish of Lutwyche welcomes Baptism enquiries from parents seeking the Sacrament on behalf of their children.  Application should be made to the Rector who will be happy to discuss arrangements.

Please contact the parish office on (07) 3857 5734 or contact us by email.

St Andrew's is one of the few churches in Brisbane to house 13 bells, and indeed the church is well known in the local community for its beautiful bell ringing. On your wedding day, as you exit the Church, the bells will be played to announce the start of another marriage - notifying all of the community of your happiness.

St Andrew's is one of the few Churches in Brisbane to boast a traditional pipe organ. For brides who want to enter the Church to the traditional "Here comes the bride", then the pipe organ sounds magnificent and brings a tear to most eyes.

The altar is quite expansive, and boasts an exquisite leadlight collection. The pews comfortably seat over 200 guests and the elevation of the altar in relation to the pews enables most guests to easily view your wedding.

The stairs of the Church are a traditional photographic spot with many couples choosing to have a group photograph with all of their guests on the steps. Over 100 people can easily be photographed positioned on the stairs. There is ample off-street parking within the Church's grounds - over 100 vehicles are easily accommodated - and the large trees around the grounds provide shade for some of these vehicles.

Many Family Traditions have begun at St Andrew's. Often we find that couples choose St Andrew's because their parents were married here - indeed we have had up to three generations of the same family all getting married at the Church. Alternatively, St Andrew's is chosen because the family has a link with the Church through baptisms, christenings, or confirmations. Let us start or continue your family tradition with you.

Sunday School

Bible Builders

Bible Builders is the name for our Sunday School at 9.00am Eucharist every Sunday morning during School term time.

A play pen is provided by the parish, stocked with safe toys and books, in the parish hall for parents to supervise their own infants during the service if desired.

Rowan holds a Bachelor of Music and Diploma of Education.
He is a current Blue Card Holder.

The name Bible Builders is taken from Matthew 7.24

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock”

Children are invited to participate in Godly Play using Lego building blocks to help them express their spiritual understanding based on the Readings of the day.

This Sunday School is open to all children from 4 years to upper Primage School age.

Admission to Holy Communion instruction is available for baptised children over the age of 7 years who seek to be admitted to the Sacrament. Preparation for Holy Communion happens in Sunday School time at the 9.00am Sunday Service.  Preparation begins on Sunday 10 April 2016 with Admission to Holy Communion is celebrated at the 9.00am Service on the Feast of Pentecost. Pentecost 2016 is Sunday 15 May 2016.
